openSUSE Tumbleweed on HP Proliant ML530 G2

HP Proliant ML530 G2 is pretty old device these days and to install modern linux on it require some tricks.

• System CPU's is not x86_64 compatible, so go for i586 distro, openSUSE Tumbleweed i586
• To fix HP Smart Array 6400 driver, add to installer kernel cmdline: cciss.cciss_allow_hpsa=0
• To fix kernel hang with video with ATI Rage in installer, add to installer kernel cmdline:  nomodeset
•  To fix video ATI Rage in system installer, add to installer kernel cmdline: console=ttyS0 console=tty textmode=1
• To fix video with ATI Rage in GRUB, after installation is finished mount root with chroot:

mount -o bind /proc /tmp/chroot/proc
mount -o bind /sys /tmp/chroot/sys
mount -o bind /dev /tmp/chroot/dev
chroot /tmp/chroot /bin/bash

• Edit GRUB2 config /etc/default/grub:

 GRUB_TERMINAL="console"

• Rebuild grub config and reboot.

Now you can boot into installed system fine 8)

Use Dualshock3 joystick on PC

Just encountered need to play game on PC with Dualshock3 joystick and found it is not working out of the box and require userspace tools:

For Linux there is userspace tool xboxdrv
For Win32  it requires Xbox joysticks driver package and this userspace tool SCP
